Not since the days when the Battle of Brunanburh (Bromborough) was fought on the Wirral Peninsular between all the Old Clan Kings across the country were King Æthelstan won the battle and England was formed as one united country. However unrest is in the air and dark clouds are forming. The old clans are restless. To ease tensions a great Wirral Touch Rugby Festival has been announced on the old battle grounds of Wirral. All the old clans are invited to come out and reaffirm bonds that make this great game and country of England .

Who will come to the Festival?

OLDERSHAW RFU
Will it be the Oldershaw Pirates and will the men of Oldershaw Rugby Club stand side to side with their women and put forward a team.

PRENTON RFU
Will it be the Prenton Predators after resting from their long contact winter campaign or do we have to issue a formal challenge to get them wound up. The honour of your club is at stake.

WALLASEY RFU
Could it be the Wallasey Warriors and can they be prized away from the wailing calls of the Mermaid that haunts their shores Or maybe she could play for them as they need to have women in their Team.

PARKONIANS RFU
Will the Parkonion Pumas again prowl the club of Wirral taking prey as they see fit. Do not be the only club on Wirral to not come up to the oche.

PORT SUNLIGHT RFU
Or will it be the Portsunlight Panthers, proud warriors of old who have taken down many a great team of Wirral. They know the game so should be there to represent the club.

HOYLAKE RFU
Then will it be the ladies of the Hoylake Harriers and will they take to the air with the support of the men of Hoylake. ( come on guys your clubs honour is at stake ).

BIRKENHEAD PARK RFU
Maybe it will be the oldest club on Wirral that stands up to the plate in the form of the Birkenhead Bulls . Could they be sharpening up their horns and will we once again hear their loud bellows across the Wirral plains. The Birkenhead women touch teams know where the medal are made. Will the men dare tread their path in support.

CHESTER RFU
There are rumbles within the old walls of Chester that the gates maybe once again be opened and the Romans in the form of the Chester Cheetahs and the Centurians. Will they once again ride out to try to take over were many a Caesar failed.

CALDY RFU
The Caldy Cobras are already hissing and spitting at the bit to squeeze the lives out any teams who dares to step forward.

LIVERPOOL TRITONS
The waters within the Mersey are stirring and a Triton has been seen rising up from the depths of the Mersey. Camps have already been set up on the New Brighton plains and their fires are burning bright, ready to attack at any moment.

LIVERPOOL OTTERS
On the banks of the Mersey waterfront of Otterspool great ships are ready to sail for the shores of Wirral. The old clan of Otter’s men and women are preparing to set sail and if successful a new mighty Otterman Empire could emerge.

OLD ANSELMIANS RFU.
Since the start of Christendom and their great campaigns across Europe the Christian Crusaders are again rising up in the form of the Anselmian Assassins.
They have already tipped their toes in the holy water preparing for a new campaign in the spring. Be prepared to see those Knight in White Satin wearing the red crosses.

WATERLOO RFU
Across the channel the French are quaking in their boots and ready to meet their Waterloo. The Waterloo Wrangles are polishing up their wellington boots and will once again be throwing canon and thunder at anybody who stands in their way. Even with one arm and one eye they have their telescope pointing across
the waters to Wirral.

VIC’s VIPERS
Will the financial world be there represented by Vic’s Vipers. Do not cross this team as your money will disappear from your accounts as you score a try against them. It’s a bull market in the game of banking.

WIRRRAL RFU. WIRRAL TIGERS
And last but not least the Wirral Tigers are awaiting your presence and are purring away and pacing their boundary ready roar at any team who dare take up the challenge.

After all the bloodshed tea and scones will be served in the main lounge before the party really begins and we drink and dance the night away.

So come on Clubs take up the challenge and wind your players up to join in what could be a great event for the clubs of Wirral. It is about a bit of fun with a competitive edge. If you need any help or training in the rules or setting up a team get in touch and we will come and provide any support you need.

Other clubs outside Wirral are invited to attend.
